Zodiac Mindwarp And The Love Reaction 22.10 – 23.25

The band is the brainchild of Mark Manning, a former graphic artist and art editor of the now defunct Flexipop! magazine. The magazine folded back in 1982 but the hedonistic lifestyle of the frequenting rock and pop stars to the magazine’ offices fueled his desire to experience the debauchery of life as a decadent rock star. He joined another music publication called Metal Fury as a graphic designer but would assume the alter ego Zodiac Mindwarp at night. Zodiac soon left Metal Fury and formed the Love Reaction in 1985 with Jimmy Cauty, who later formed The Orb, The JAMS (Justified Ancients of Mu Mu), and The KLF on guitar, Kid Chaos (real name Stephen Harris) on bass and Boom Boom Kaboomski on drums.

Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction play a sleazy style of commercial hard rock featuring big riffs and choruses, as was the trend in the band’s heyday of the mid-to-late 1980s and early 1990s. The camp lyrics are intended as self-parody, and can be seen as either humorous, or offensive by those who take them at face value, for their often lascivious and misogynist tone. Song titles like “Back Seat Education”, “Feed My Frankenstein”, “High Heeled Heaven”, and “Trash Madonna” illustrate Mindwarp’s tongue-in-cheek approach. Lyrical content also exhibits a send up of cult worship, often of Zodiac Mindwarp’s self-proclaimed raging libido, with Mindwarp claiming the titles sex fuhrer, love dictator, and high priest of love.

With Support From:

Burnt Out Wreck 21.00 – 21.40
Gary Moat – the man at the back is now at the front! The Heavy Pettin’ drummer is now the driving force of BURNT OUT WRECK and very much in control of the fire that’s burning.
“There is no doubt the band takes their groovy Hard Rock very seriously though, because they are really good at what they do! Think Bon Scott era ACDC with a bit of Sleaze Metal thrown in and you have a pretty good idea as to what to expect in respect to Burnt Out Wreck’s style”.

Sky Valley Mistress 20.00 – 20.40
The Blues Magazine – “SKY VALLEY MISTRESS mean business as they come swaggering out of Blackburn to set hips shaking and pulses racing with a blend of dirty blues and raw rock and roll”.
TeamRock – “Fronted by the formidable Kayley ‘Hell Kitten’ Davies, the quartet take their musical cues from Zeppelin, Sabbath and the meanest, low-down urban blues, to deliver bruising rock ‘n’ roll thrills.”
Rhythm Magazine – “…Their sound remains defiantly stripped down, fuzzy and dirtier than a ghetto dumpster.”

The Black Bullets 19.10 – 19.40
Devil’s children are hard to find. Music walks amongst the mist, hearing the damned and demonic, where only the living fall.
In the night walk the Strangers, an admission of nocturnal salvation. The Black Bullets are five bastard children from hell, locked together to produce the most filthy Rock n Roll to penetrate human ears.
“They drink, live, eat, throw up, sleep, breathe and drink Rock n Roll” – Sleaze Roxx

HammerJacK 18.20 – 18.50
Formed in April 2013 with the sole ambition of creating an uncompromising, hard hitting heavy rock band. They fused their influences from old classic sounds of ACDC, Led Zeppelin and Guns n roses through to more modern styles of Cadillac Three, Joe Bonamassa and The Answer.
They have toured relentlessly up and down the UK, and as far a field as Estonia through to Spain igniting stages along the way with their explosive live show.

Currently working with their strongest ever line up the band will always throw up a few surprises with their varied mix of original songs. An intriguing combination of Janine’s powerful voice, melodic guitars and powerhouse drums and bass with influences ranging from Penetration to Patti Smith, the Doors to the Damned.
