Grassroots Music Venues across London unite to create month long festival of music as part of Sounds Like London – Fightback London

“Music Venue Trust are delighted to announce FIghtback London, a key component of Sounds Like London, the Mayor’s month long celebration of London’s vital Grassroots Music Venues that will take place in June 2018.

Sounds Like London is a new summer campaign that will encourage audiences to visit their local grassroots music venue and promote the capital’s emerging musical talent. Fightback London will provide the focus for events taking place at the capital’s Grassroots Music Venues, with live music every day throughout June at a whole range of venues right across London.

Gary Prosser of Music Venue Trust said:

“These venues are the backbone of the live music scene in London, providing spaces where artists can take their first steps, develop and grow. Fightback London provides an opportunity to showcase the fantastic range of artists and venues that London enjoys, celebrating the history of our music scene and supporting its future.

More than 60 events at over 20 venues have already been confirmed, with many more to be added, including special featured events. Venues taking part include 100 Club, Dublin Castle, Omeara, Electrowerkz, Borderline, Bedford, and Thee Social.

Special events include Camden Rocks, Bush Stock and and new live agency Talentbanq who will be announcing something typically unique – featuring 10 independent artists at one of London’s most famous addresses – as part of the festival.

  1. Great to see a venue supporting hardworking dedicated musicians who bring entertainment, added value and profit to their business. Same as with other professions such as Doctor, Lawyer, Architect etc musicians undertake years of apprenticeship and study at great personal expense in time and money. To have that reflected and valued in how they regarded, supported and employed is obviously vital for this profession and artform to continue and thrive so wonderful to see that evidenced in the comments above…
